The Canadian Government extends an opportunity to all Indian
students to pursue their studies in the country; however, to do so, they must
acquire a Study Permit before heading to Canada.
In addition to the study permit, students also need a
Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for entry into Canada. While the study permit
allows students to study in Canada, the TRV is the visa that grants them access
to the country.
Students can apply for a Study Permit under the Student
Direct Stream (SDS) and the General category of the Association of Canadian
Community Colleges and the Canadian Immigration Programs in New Delhi and
Chandigarh. To qualify for a Study Permit application under SDS, the student
should possess an unconditional offer letter from one of the universities or
colleges included in this scheme.
SDS is currently open to applicants from China, Morocco,
Pakistan, The Philippines, Senegal, and Vietnam. The processing time for
student visas is a minimum of 15 days.
